| CLEANING - PRE CARD This involves removing by hand as much as possible of the following items: Coarse fibres Second cuts Stained fibres Badly weathered ends which may hide vegetation The removal of the above mentioned items is important because any left in the fleece will be spread throughout the entire carded batch. We welcome pre – cleaned fleeces but if on inspection we feel there is a need to further clean, we will not proceed without consultation and if we do clean, a charge will apply for time spent. Waste removed will be bagged and returned to you. We are aiming for the best-finished product so you are happy with the result!
We offer this service, but you are
welcome to wash & dry your own fleece. We are not able to card "felted"
or badly "matted" fibre. Please contact us for details of our washing
techniques if required. A charge will apply for us to wash & dry the
fleece/s. PICKING Used in the hand removal of
vegetation from fleeces. This process is done by hand and necessary to open the fibres after washing & drying and prior to carding. Saves double carding the fleece. A charge will apply for this service.
The cleaned, washed, dried & opened fibres are then carded. The carder we use is a sample carder by factory standards and creates a beautiful open web. We can also card the necks, legs and bellies as these can be blended together for use as stuffing or carded for felting, weaving or spinning.
A hand spinning service is available upon request at this stage. The finished yarn is spun to your requirements and returned to you washed and balled up ready for use. Please enquire as to the waiting time for this service. A charge will apply for this service.
All batches are kept separate except where blending is requested and we guarantee you will receive your own fleece/s back. PAYMENT A tax invoice will be issued with
finished goods and payment to be made prior to release of goods. GST is
